Field surveys and the collection of the data available

Activities will focus on the collection of available data on the occurrence of species listed in the Red Lists.

The Red List of woody plants of the Czech Republic

A part of the data for this list has already been processed. The information about species occurrence was derived from the NCA CZ database, the Czech National fytocenology plot database, the Floristic database, database of FMI and NIL database. Next step will be collection of the data in the literature and in selected herbaria. For the purposes of this red list the Herbariums of the following institutions will be visited: Masaryk University (BRNU), Moravian Museum (BRNM), Charles University (PRC), the National Museum in Prague (PR). The herbarium of Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocoenology Faculcy of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno will, of course, be used as well.

The occurrence of endangered species on recent disputable localities will be verified in the field.

Red List of endangered species of the floodplain forests Lower Morava BR

The occurrence of endangered species of higher plants in the floodplain forests was already partially processed by members of the research team. The work, especially the field surveys, will be completed as a part of this activity. There will be provided an excerption of literature from the last few years. For other endangered species will be made collection of data from databases (the NCA CZ database, the Czech National fytocenology plot database, the Floristic database), literature and selected herbarium. The recent data from regional museums will also be used. Current distribution of the studied species will be provided through field surveys. It will be made by MENDELU staff as well as the external experts that studied this area for a long time.

The project partner - The Lower Morava BR will provide hiring outside experts, coordination of their work and processing of the results.

Red List of Threatened Species of TFE

Also in this case the data will be collected from databases, literature and selected herbariums. The available data from the Administration of the Moravian Karst PLA and regional museums will also be used.

Field work will be carried out in part by MENDELU staff and partly by external experts. Foresters working at TFE Masaryk Forest Křtiny will also help on field research, because they are familiar with territory. To ensure the required quality of work there will be training and training materials prepared for foresters in collaboration with the Moravian Karst PLA staff. The materials will focus mainly on the correct determination of species and their ecological requirements. Skilled staff of MENDELU and external specialists will provide field surveys in selected groups of organisms, or monitor the sites identified by foresters.

The location of observed species will be detected and the specimen photographed during the field surveys. Captured photos will then be used for book and electronic edition of the Red List as well as the creation of educational materials and training purposes.
