Conference - 5th and 6th October we held a conference "Protecting endangered species in the Czech Republic" within our project. We introduced the Red Book of Invertebrates of riparian forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve on the conference. You can see photos here.

Red Book - The proofreading of the Red Book of Invertebrates of riparian forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve is finished and the book is printed. Editorial work on the Red Book of Vertebrates of  flodplain forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve commenced.

Red Book - The proofreading of the Red Book of Invertebrates of riparian forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve is being finalized.

Red Book Editorial work on the Red Book of Invertebrates of  flodplain forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve commenced. We are finishing the Red Book of Vertebrates of  flodplain forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve. The manuscript will then be forwarded to reviewers.

Field surveys - We continue with checking of localities of endangered species.

Red Book - The Red Book of Invertebrates of floodplain forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve was reviewed.

The rescue program continues. We sowed stratified seeds of yew (Taxus baccata), wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis), pubescent oak (Quercus pubescens) and cornelian-cherry (Cornus mas). There will also be transplanting of seedlings of elm (Ulmus), produced last year.

Red book - The manuscript of the Red book of invertebrates of flodplain forests of the Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve is being currently completed. Introductory chapters and texts describing various species are prepared. The photographs for the book are assembled. The manuscript will be forwarded to reviewers.

Conferences - We attended a working conference of the Czech Botanical Society on the theme "Endangered flora of the Czech Republic and regional red lists", which took place in November 28. to 29.  2015 in Prague. The project team presented a paper at the conference (presented paper). The project was also presented there through a poster (poster).

The rescue program - Seeds of elm (Ulmus) collected in May were planted. The seeds germinated and the seedlings will be transplanted in the spring. Grafts of endangered species of whitebeam Sorbus portae-bohemicae, Sorbus albensis collected at the end of winter were grafted and they grow in containers in nurseries now. During the year, there have been collected fruits and seeds of other species listed in the rescue program - yew (Taxus baccata), wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis), pubescent oak (Quercus pubescens), cornelian-cherry (Cornus mas), marsh gladiolus (Gladiolus palustris), European black cohosh (Cimicifuga europaea). Elm seeds were sown, and now we have nice seedlings. Other seeds were stratified and will be sown in the spring.

Greenhouses - For needs of the rescue program were built two greenhouses in Dyk’s nurseries. Larger greenhouse has a dimension of 8 x 5 m and has a solid floor. It is designed for growing plants in containers and on cultivation table and vegetative propagation of plants. The greenhouse is equipped with a stationary irrigation with sprayers which is installed in four rows on the aluminum frame of greenhouse. Deployment of sprayers is designed to achieve perfect irrigation regime cultivated plants. The smaller greehouse has a dimension of 6 x 3 m. It is suitable for planting in loose soil and the soil improved by substrates. Therefore, it is designed as mobile and at the required location is anchored in the ground using 8 anchors. This greenhouse is equipped with irrigation too. This is a mobile irrigation connecting to water pipeline in the nursery. The irrigation system is flexible and allows change irrigation in greenhouses from sprayers to drip irrigation. The plaque was placed at greenhouses.

Data processing – We continuously processed excerpted data. Locations, collectors and time of collection of sched and literature are transcribed into tables. Subsequently, we will create GIS layer. Processed data will be transmitted to AOPK database.

Field surveys - From spring to autumn we carry out field surveys (in the territory of ETF, BR DM and trees in the whole country). Their objective was to verify (confirm) the occurrence of observed species or survey a selected area. On the territory of ETF, BR DM were monitored species listed on the red lists. From the trees (whole Czech Republic) we focus (for example) on Dorycnium herbaceum, Fumane procumbens, Rosa spinosissima, Prunus fruticosa, P. tenella, P. mahaleb, Chamaecytisus ssp., Cornus sanguinea subsp. australis and subsp. hungarica, Salix repens, S. rosmarinifolia. More intensive surveys were conducted in southern Moravia, Czech Karst and surroundings of Doksy.

Herbariums - We go to herbariums and collect data about endangered species. For the Red book of woody plant of the Czech Republic we excerpt data primarily from the "bigger" herbariums (herbarium of the National Museum in Prague, Faculty of Science CU, the Moravian Museum, Faculty of Science MU. Data for the Regional Red Lists are excerpted from herbariums of regional museums (Znojmo, Mikulov, Vyškov, Prostějov).

Literature - Data about an occurrence of endangered species are excerpted from herbariums and literature (variety of regional flora and floristic courses).

Red Lists – We create a working version of Red Lists and consult them with other professionals. Based on their comments are red lists maintained.

Grafts - Before the end of the winter we collected grafts of two endangered species of whitebeam (Sorbus portae-bohemicae, Sorbus albensis). They were placed in a fridge and they will be grafted onto the rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) in spring.
